Solution:

Let say numbers are

a   b

c   d

a    +   b    = 16

c    -     d    = 12

a + b = 16

b + d = 16

=> a = d

a + c = 26

c - d  = 12

=> c - a  = 12

adding a + c   & c - a

=>  2c = 38

=> c = 19

a + 19 = 26

=> a = 7

a + b = 16

=> 7 + b = 16

=> b = 9

7    +   9   = 16

19   -   7    = 12
