Given:

Rathin Babu went to the market with some money.

He bought fruits for 5/12 rupees and vegetables for 3/7 rupees.

To find:

How much more money does he have?

Solution:

Let's assume "x" be the amount of money that Rathin Babu initially had.

So,

He bought fruits for = Rs. \frac{5x}{12}

and

He bought vegetables for = Rs. \frac{3x}{7}

∴ Total money spent by him = \frac{5x}{12} + \frac{3x}{7} = \frac{35x \:+\: 36x}{84} = \frac{71x}{84}

Now, after buying fruits and vegetables from the market,

The remaining amount of money left with him,

=  x - \frac{71x}{84}

= \frac{84x - 71x}{84}

= \bold{\frac{13x}{84}}

Thus, Rathin Babu is left with \underline {\frac{13}{84}} of the total money, he initially had.
