Answer:

5^-2=1/5^2

because when u bring the numerator to denominator the power gets a -sign.

1/5^2 is 1/25

on simplification it is 0.4

pls mark as the brainliest and hope it helped...

5^{-2} = 0.04

So first thing you have to know is that, if you're rising some number (or variable) to the negative power you're switching places of things in numerator and things in denumerator, "removing" the minus from exponent. (that small thing above the bigger letter/number). Simply the down goes up and the up goes down.

   something^{exponent}

  \frac{numerator}{denumerator}

for example:

  • \frac{2^{-1} }{1} = \frac{1}{2^{1} }
  • \frac{4^{-2} }{1} = \frac{1}{4^{2} }
  • \frac{4^{-2} }{3} = \frac{3}{4^{2} }

5^{-2} = \frac{5^{-2} }{1}   (you're dividing by 1 so you're not changing anything)

\frac{5^{-2} }{1}\\ = \frac{1}{5^{2} }

5² is just 5*5 = 25

\frac{1}{5^{2} } = \frac{1}{25} = \frac{4}{100} = 0.04
