Step-by-step explanation:

The given point of coordinate in x and y system lies in the 3rd quadrant. In this quadrant, both the points are in the negative signs. Angle of 3rd quadrant will be from 180 degrees to 270 degrees. In the given coordinate points, the value along x axis is -5 while the value along y axis is -2. In a two dimensional plane, there are 4 equal quadrants

Given :  Point ( -5 , - 2)

To Find :   Quadrant

Solution:

Quadrant 1   x + ve   , y  - ve

Quadrant 2  x - ve      y + ve

Quadrant 3   x - ve  , y - ve

Quadrant 4   x + ve  , y - ve

X - axis  y = 0

Y - axis  x = 0

Point ( -5 , - 2)

x and y  both are -ve

Hence point lies in  Quadrant 3
