5 - 2(x - 1) = 4(3 - x) - 2x

5 - 2x + 2 = 12 - 4x - 2x

 - 2x + 7 = 12 - 6x

 - 2x + 6x = 12 - 7

4x = 5

x =  \frac{5}{4}

3(x-1)=12-4x-2x

3x-3=12-6x

3x+6x=12+3

9x=15

x=15/9

x=5/3
