Given: A, B and C represent the numbers 0, 4, and -6 respectively on the number line.

Points L, M, and N are between A and B such that AL = LM = MN = NB

a point O between C and A so that CO = OA.

To Find: the rational numbers represented by the points L, M, and N

Which rational number does O represent

Solution:

A = 0

B = 4

AL = LM = MN = NB

AL + LM + MN + NB = AB

=> AL = LM = MN = NB = 1

AL = 1 , AM = 2  , AN = 3 , AB = 4

L = 1  , M = 2 , N = 3

L represent rational number 1

M represent rational number 2

N represent rational number 3

A = 0 , C = -6

CO = OA

=> O = - 3

O represent rational number -3
