You will observe the following: (a) Each gains water and swells when placed in water. (b) However, when placed in the concentrated solution it loses water, and consequently shrinks.​

Since the concentration of the solution outside the cell is high ( i.e, hypertonic solution) the apricots or raisins will shrink by the process of exosmosis.

whereas if it was kept in an hypotonic solution (i.e, the external solution is very dilute) then the raisins or apricots will gain water by the process of endosomosis.
