ANSWER:

Value of x is (-1) and y is 1.

GIVEN:

5x+2y = (-3)

x+5y = 4

TO FIND:

Value of x and y.

SOLUTION:

=> 5x+2y = (-3). ..(i)

=> x+5y = 4. ..(ii)

Multiplying equation(ii) by 5 we get;

=> 5(x+5y) = 5(4)

=> 5x+25y = 20 ..(iii)

Subtracting equation (I) from equation (iii)

=>( 5x+25y)-(5x+2y) = 20-(-3)

=> 5x-5x+25y-2y= 20+3

=> 23y = 23

=> y = 23/23

=> y = 1

Putting y = 1 in equation (i) we get;

=>5x+2(1)= -3

=> 5x+2 = -3

=> 5x = -3-2

=> x = -5/5

=> x = -1

Value of x is (-1) and y is 1.

Answer:

x= - 1 , y= 1

Step-by-step explanation:

5x + 2 y = -3 ___ 1 equation

(x + 5y =4) ×5 __2 equation

5x + 2y = - 3

5x + 25y = 20

- - -

-23y = - 23

y = 1

put y in equation 1

5x + 2y = - 3

5x + 2 = - 3

5x = -5

x = - 1
