Answer:

What you have provided here is a series 5, 7, 10, 15, 22, ______. Then you have asked for the next term in the series.

Step-by-step explanation:

Well somehow I do agree to the solution that has been provided here by my friend that next number could be 33. But when only one option is given, there may be more than one solution to the numerical.

You cant disagree that in maths more than one solution is possible if we change the formulae.

Lets see. First we consider that primes are only added to each preceding number in the series.

Then we have 5 (Prime Number) + 2 (Prime number)  7 (prime number.

7 + 3 (Prime number)  10 (composite number).

10 (composite number) + 5 (prime number)  15 (composite number).

15 (composite number) + 7 (prime number)  22 (composite number)

22 (composite number) + 11 (next prime after 7)  33 (composite number).

So the next number as per this rule is 33. But some how first two digits are primes when added, so the rule does not remain same.

Again, by second rule method…

We take simple mathematics…

5 + 2 -> 7.

(7-5) = 2….. this is the difference method.

Using this method…we have…

5,    7,    10,     15,     22,     30

    2,   3,       5,       7,       8

        1,    2,       2,        1

           1,      0        -1

                -1      -1

so the next number should be 30.

33 is the missing term in  5, 7, 10, 15, 22, _

Given:

5, 7, 10, 15, 22, _

To find:

Missing term = ?

Solution:

Observe the number series and we can find

7 - 5=2

10 - 7=3

15 - 10=5

22 - 15=7

The difference between the adjacent numbers itself form a series of consecutive prime numbers 2,3,5,7 and the next will be the prime number 11 and adding 11 to 22

We get the next number in the series as 33

Hence, series is   5, 7, 10, 15, 22, 33.
