Answer: Next number in the series is 24

Concept: We have to find the pattern of the series and then find the next term on the basis of pattern.

Given: Series     5,8,12,18,---

To find: The next number of the given series.

Step by step explanation:

Considering the first term of the series [5]

5 = 2 + 3         (Sum of two consecutive prime numbers)

Considering the second term of the series [8]

8 = 3 + 5          (Sum of two consecutive prime numbers)

Third term [12]

12 = 5 + 7         (Sum of two consecutive prime numbers)

Fourth term [18]

18 = 7 + 11         (Sum of two consecutive prime numbers)

Next term can be written found as

Next term = 11 + (consecutive prime number after 11)

(consecutive prime number after 11) = 13

Next term = 11 + 13

                 = 24

Hence, the answer is 24
