( { \frac{5}{9} })^{4}  \times (  { \frac{5}{9} })^{ - 8}  = ( { \frac{5}{9} })^{2x - 1}  \\ base \: is \: same \: so \: equate \: the \: powers \\ 4 \times ( - 8) = 2x - 1 \\  - 32 = 2x - 1 \\ 2x =  - 32 + 1 \\ 2x =  - 31 \\ x =  \frac{ - 31}{2}
