5. A 80 m by 64 m rectangular lawn has two roads, each 5 m wide running through its middle, one parallel to its length and the other parellel to its breadth. Find the cost of gravelling the roads at 40 per m2.

cost of gravelling two roads = 28800

cost of gravelling a first  road =16000

cost of second road =12800

Explanation:

length of lawn =80m

breadth of lawn=46m

width of the road =5m

area of road with length 80=l*b

                                             =80*5

                                             =400m2    

area of road with length 64=l*b  

                                             =64*5

                                             =320m2

cost of gravelling first  road =400*40

                                              =16000

cost gravelling second road=320*40

                                              =12800

COST OF GRAVELLING BOTH THE ROADS =16000+12800

                                                                          = 28800Rs.
