5. A cyclist travels for 20 minutes at a speed of 30 km/h and for 40 minutes at 15 km/h. Find the total distance she travels and calculate her average speed.​

Case 1

Time = 20 min = 1/3 of hour

Distance = speed × time

= 25 × 1/3

=8.3km

Case 2

Time = 40min = 2/3 of hour

Distance = speed × Time

= 40×2/3

We get 80/3 as our distance

Total Distance= 8.3+80/3 = 34.96

Total time = 1/3+2/3 = 3/3=1

Now, average speed

Average speed = total distance/total time

= 34.96/1

= 34.96
