5. A driver of a car travelling at 52 km h-1 applies the brakes and accelerates uniformly in the opposite
direction. The car stops in 5 s. Another driver going at 3 km h-1in another car applies his breaks slowly
and stops in 10 s. On the same graph paper plot the speed versus time graphs for the two cars. Which of the
two cars travelled farther after the brakes were applied ?

Initial speed of car A = 52km/h
Time at which car A come to rest = 5sec
Initial speed of car B = 3km/h
Time at which car B come to test = 10 sec
distance covered by car A before come to rest = 1/2*52*5
= 130km
change into m= 130*5/18
= 36.1m
distance covered by car B = 1/2*3*10
= 15km
change in m = 15*5/18
= 4.16m
thus, the first car travel farther than the second car after the brake 's applied.......
