Carbon dioxide is able to control fire as it acts like a blanket between oxygen in the air and the fire.
- Carbon dioxide is a heavier gas as compared to oxygen gas.
- Carbon dioxide gas acts as a blanket between oxygen and the fuel due to which a fire gets controlled.
- When we release carbon dioxide from a fire extinguisher, it expands and then it cools down. In this way, it also helps in cooling the fire.
