Universal suffrage (also called universal franchise, general suffrage, and common suffrage of the common man) gives the right to vote to all adult citizens, regardless of wealth, income, gender, social status, race, ethnicity, political stance, or any other restriction, subject only to relatively minor exceptions.
  2. Every Indian citizen who has attained the age of 18 years on the qualifying date i.e. first day of January of the year of revision of electoral roll, unless otherwise disqualified, is eligible to be registered as a voter in the roll of the part/polling area of the constituency where he is ordinarily resident.
  3. Titles like Rai Bahadurs or Khan Bahadurs were meant for a peculiar class of aristocrats created by the British Government. As, these titles went against the principle of 'equality of status', therefore the Constitution abolished the old system of conferring 'Titles'.
