5. A pendulum having an amplitude ‘A’ is executing SHM as shown in the figure.
How much is the displacement between two extreme position :
(A) 2l cos theta
(B) 2l sin theta
(C) 2l tan theta
(D) 2l cot theta

(the answer given is 2l sin theta.I only want the steps.)

Answer:

O is the mean position and B and C are extreme positions.

Given: BC = 10cm

Since B and C are the extreme positions, therefore amplitude of the SHM oscillation is 5cm

Now time taken for covering 10cm =6s

so time for 10/4cm =

10

6∗2.5

=1.5s

D is the midway between C and O.

Answer:

OPB is a right angle triangle.

sin

 sin(theta)  = bp \div l

BP= L×sin(theta)

Displacement between two extreme point,

BC= 2L.sin(theta)

I hope, this will do.
