Given:

A photograph is framed.

The dimension of the photo with the frame is 8 cm by 6 cm and dimension without the frame is 6 cm by 4.5 cm

To find:

The area of the frame

Solution:

The dimensions of the photo with the frame:

Length = 8 cm

Breadth = 6 cm

∴ The area of the photo with the frame is,

= length × breadth

= 8 × 6

= 48 cm²

The dimensions of the photo without the frame:

Length = 6 cm

Breadth = 4.5 cm

∴ The area of the photo without the frame,

= length × breadth

= 6 × 4.5

= 27 cm²

Now,

The area of the frame will be,

= [Area of photo with frame] - [Area of photo without frame]

= 48 cm² - 27 cm²

= 21 cm²

Thus, the area of the frame is → 21 cm².
