5. A saree is 5 m long and 1.5m wide. A border of width 3 cm is printed along its sides. Find the cost
of printing the border at 2.50 per centimetre square .

Area of saree =l×b

=500×150

=75000cm^2

Length of saree along with border=500+3+3=506cm

Width of saree along with border=150+3+3=156cm

Area of saree along with border=l×b

=506×156=78936cm^2

Area of border=area of saree along with border-area of saree alone

=78936-75000

=3936cm^2

Rate of printing border=2.50 per centimetre square

Total cost of printing of 3936 cm^2 of border=3936×2.50

=9840 rupees
