(5) A train starting from rest attains a velocity of 60 km per hour in 4 minutes. Assuming that the acceleration is uniform, Find the (a) Acceleration and (b) The distance travelled by the train for attaining this velocity.

1. u=0, v= 60 km/h

= 60 × 5/18 = 50/3 m/s

t= 4min = 4× 60 = 240

a = v - u/ t = 50/3- 0/240

= 5/72 m/s²

2. v²-u²= 2as

s = v²/2a = (50/3)²/2×5/72

= 2500× 36/9 × 5

= 2000m

=2km
