If the rod translates making a constant angle with vertical, the value of F must be ma cosec θ

Given-

  • Mass of uniform bar = m
  • Horizontal force = F
  • Angle with vertical = θ
  • Angle with horizontal = 90 - θ

Bar is moving with an acceleration of a (let)

From the Newtons second law of motion-

F cos (90 - θ) = ma

F sin θ = ma

F = ma/sin θ

F = ma cosec θ
