Question :-

  1. A verandah is 40 m long and 15 m broad. It is to be paved with stones, each measuring 6dm by 5 dm. Find the number of stones required.

Answer :-

Lenght of verandah = 40 m

Breadth of verandah = 15 m

Area of verandah = Lenght × Breadth

=> 40 × 15

=>

600 {m}^{2}

Area of each Stone = Lenght × Breadth

=> 6dm×5dm

=> 30d {m}^{2}

Number of stone =

  \frac{area \: of \: verandah}{area  \: of  \:each \:  stone}

=> area \: of \: stone =  \cancel \frac{600}{30  \times   {10}^{ - 2} }

=> Number of stone = 2000
