Acceleration is a vector quantity , that means:

  • It is a physical quantity defined by both magnitude and direction.

Now, whenever we take a reference frame and observe the direction of acceleration, we can term it as :

  • Positive or Negative.

  • However, the magnitude of acceleration is zero, acceleration can also be a null vector.

So, any vector like acceleration , i.e. displacement, etc. can be positive, negative or zero.
