• Article V11 states that the Congress "shall propose Amendments to this Constitution whenever two-thirds of both Houses may think it expedient, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two-thirds of the several States, shall call Convention for proposing Amendments."
• According to the Article, the Constitution may be changed either by a national constitutional convention or by an act of Congress (the US Parliament).
• A 2/3 majority is needed in each chamber. And when it has been approved, the proposed amendment is not conveyed to the President as it is in India or as it is in the UK's Royal family. It is instead sent to the United States.
• There has only ever been one constitutional convention, which resulted in the creation of the United States Constitution in 1787.
• State legislatures have a significant role in altering the US constitution, which is not only within the purview of the US Congress. Except for casting his or her congressional vote, the US president has little influence over Constitutional changes. While in the UK and India, each modification passed by the Parliament by their constitutions' requirements is forwarded to the President of the Royal head, as appropriate, for approval.
