Given:

An artificial satellite is moving in a circular orbit of radius 5000 km

To find:

The speed of the artificial satellite if it takes 24 hours to revolve around the earth

Solution:

We know that the distance covered by the satellite around the earth in 1 revolution will be equal to the circumference of the orbit.

∴ Distance covered in 1 revolution,

= Circumference

= 2\pi r

= 2\:\times\:\frac{22}{7} \:\times\:5000

= \frac{220000}{7}

= 31428.57\:km

The time taken by the artificial satellite to revolve around the earth = 24 hrs

We have the formula as,

\boxed{\bold{Speed\:=\:\frac{Distance}{Time} }}

∴ The speed of the artificial satellite will be,

= \frac{31428.57\:km}{24\:hr}

= 1309.52\:km/hr

= 1309.52\:\times\:\frac{5}{18} \:m/s

= 363.755\:m/s

Thus, the speed of the artificial satellite will be 363.755 m/s, if it takes 24 hours to revolve around the earth.
