Question :-

An isosceles triangle has equal sides each 13 cm and a base 24 cm in length.Find its height ?

To Find :-

Find its height ?

Solution :-

AB = AC = 13cm

BC =24 cm

Height = Altitude = AD

An Altitude Drawn From the base from vertex of an isosceles Triangle divides the base in the two equal parts.

BC = CD

In △ ADB

AB² = AD² + DB²

(13)² = AD² +(12)²

AD² = 169 - 144

AD² = √25

AD² = 5 Cm

Hence, The Height Is 5 Cm.

 \huge \mathcal {Question}

An isosceles triangle has equal sides each 13 cm and a base 24 cm in lenge

Find its height.

 \huge  \colorbox{cyan}{Solution}

Δ Abc is an is an isosceles Δ

AB=AC=13cm

BC=24

Height=Altitude=AD

An altitude draw to the base from vertex of an isosceles triangle divides the base in two equal parts

.:. BD=CD

BD=1/2 BC=12cm

In Δ ADB

 {AB}^{2}  =  {AD}^{2}  +  {DB}^{2}  \\  {13}^{2}  =  {AD}^{2}  +  {12}^{2}  \\  {AD}^{2}  = 169 - 144 \\  {AD}^{2}  = 25 \\  {AD} = 5cm

hussain1297: only median divides the line into equal halves.. altitude too bisect the same?
