Given : 5 by 3 minus 1 by 9   ( 5/3  - 1/9)

To find :  Resultant value

Solution:

5/3   - 1/9

To solve it first we need to get

Denominator same in both

Denominator would be LCM of 3 & 9

LCM of 3 & 9  = 9

to Have 9 in denominator  of 5/3 , we need to multiply numerator & denominator by 3

Hence

5 * 3 / (3 * 3)  -  1/9

= 15/9  -  1/9

As denominator is common we can apply simple add subtract operator on numerator

= (15 - 1)/9

= 14/9

To simplify we need to find HCF of numerator & denominator

HCF of 14 & 9 is  1

Hence   14/9 is final answer

5/3 - 1/9  = 14/9
