Answer:

The number should be multiplied by 12/100

to obtain it's 12% and also you've to add it with the number to obtain 12% increase

an example is

Let increase 12% of 50

that is

( \frac{12}{100}  \times 50) + 50 \\ (\frac{12}{10}  \times 5 ) + 50 \\  \frac{60}{10}   + 50 \\ 6 + 50 = 56

therefore 12% of 50 is 6

and for increasing, you've to add it with the real amount
