<b>Here is the answer to your question!!

Characteristics of Meristematic tissue are:

• The cells divide repeatedly.

•The cells are undifferentiated.

•The cells are small and isodiametric.

•Intercellular space are absent

•Metabolism occurs at high rate.

•The cell walls are thin.

Hope it helped!!

Plants tissues divided into two types-

1. Meristematic Tissue (cells are capable of division)

2. Permanent Tissue (mature cells that are not capable of division)

So,

Meristematic Tissues-

It is the active tissue which divides throughout its life.

As it is growing tissue, it is found in the growing parts of the plants like roots, shoot tip.

They lack vacuoles and intercellular spaces between adjacent cells.

The different types of Meristematic tissues are-

(i) Apical Meristematic Tissue -

  • Present at the growing tips of stem and roots.
  • Helps in increasing the length of the stem and the roots.

(ii) Intercalary Meristematic Tissue -

  • Present at the base of the leaves or internodes of twigs.
  • It helps in the longitudinal growth of the plants.

(iii) Lateral Meristematic Tissue -

  • Present on the lateral sides of stem and roots.
  • Helps in increasing the girth of the stem or root.

Now,

It's characteristics :

  1. The meristematic tissue divides throughout its life.
  2. They lack an intercellular space.
  3. They lack vacuoles.
  4. The newly produced meristematic tissues are the same as those of meristematic, but their characteristics change when they become differentiated as components of other tissues.
  5. They have dense cytoplasm.
  6. They have thin cellulose walls.
  7. They have prominent nuclei.
