Examples of Hypertonic, Hypotonic and Isotonic Solution:

1. 0.9% Normal Saline : ISOTONIC SOLUTION, it is extensively used as in intravenous fluid to combat rehydration or shock.

2. 5% DNS (Dextrose Normal Saline) or 25% Dextrose is an example of HYPERTONIC SOLUTION. They are also used as intravenous fluid in case of reduced blood glucose.

3. 0.45% Normal Saline: This is half the normal concentration of NS, hence is an HYPOTONIC SOLUTION. It is used in Diabetic Ketoacidosis.
