There are 10 x, 50 x 100 x. the amount of light that is allowed to enter through the aperture of the lens is gradually increased when we increase the magnification. In case of hundred times magnification we use the oil immersion. As a result of this if the same aperture is kept then there is a large amount of light that is allowed to enter the microscope resulting in decrease in the contrast of the image in case of lower magnification.
