5. Diameter of cylinder A is 7 cm and the height is 14 cm. Diameter of cylinder B is 14 cm
and height is 7 cm. Without doing any calculations can you suggest whose volume is
greater? Verify it by finding the volume of both the cylinders. Check whether the
cylinder with lesser volume also has less surface area.

Answer:

radius for cylinder A= 3.5

radius for cylinder B= 7

for cylinder A

Volume of cylinder= 2πrh

= 2×22÷7×3.5×14

= 2×22×3.5×2

= 328

for cylinder B

Volume of cylinder= 2πrh

= 2×22÷7×7×7

= 2×22×7

= 2×154

= 308

Hence, cylinder B has less volume and less surface area
