acids are the subastances which are sour in taste while bases possess a bitter taste. acids turn blue litmus red while base turns blue litmus to red. acid is derived from greek word meaning sour and base possess a slippery touch. acids are more corrosive in nature as compared to bases. examples of acid are hydrochloric acid, example of base is soap.
