Differences between MICROSPOROGENESIS & MEGASPOROGENESIS:-
》MICROSPOROGENESIS-
- It occurs inside the microsporangia of anther
- Many microspore mother cells are produced in a microsporangium
- All the four microspore tetrads are functional
- The structure formed at the end of this event is microspore
》MEGASPOROGENESIS-
- It occurs in the nucellus of the ovule/megasporangium
- Only one megaspore mother cell is differentiated in a megasporangium
- Only one of the four megaspore cell is functional and three of them degenerates
- The structure formed at the end of this event is megaspore
》COMMON FOR BOTH-
- Meiosis occur during both microsporogenesis and megasporogenesis.
