Fiber:-

Fiber is obtained from natural or synthetic sources. They are the building blocks of the clothes. Textile fibers are the smallest unit of fabric. The fibre is a single strand with which yarn is produced by spinning the threads together or passing the fibres thru spinnerets.

There are three main types of fibers

  • Natural fibers: Cotton, Silk, Wool, Jute, and Hemp.

  • Manmade (Semi-Synthetic): Rayon

  • Synthetic fibers: Polyester, Nylon, Polypropylene, Acrylic etc.

Fabric:-

Fabric is a network of single or different yarns. When yarns are weaved, knotted, or knitted together, the structure is formed. The material has a different usage, for example, apparel, garments, home furnishing, and industry, etc.

Fabrics are categorized with their manufacturing methods and patterns for example

  • Knitted fabrics: Single Jersey, Pique, Rib, Interlock, etc.

  • Woven Fabrics: Chiffon, Satin, Denim, etc.

  • Non-Woven fabrics: Used in Technical textiles, Sanitary napkins, Baby wipes, and wet wipes, etc.

  • Jacquards, stripes and Printed fabrics
