Rabi crops are sown with the onset of the winter and harvested in the spring season. Too much of rainfall may spoil the yield of these crop. These are sown after the departure of monsoon season mainly in late October or early November.

Kharif crops, also known as monsoon crops is grown at the arrival of monsoon season which is mainly between June to September . These crops require both hot and wet climate. A good amount of rainfall enhances the yield of these crops.

Zaid crops refers to those which are not dependent on monsoon but are grown on irrigated lands during the period between Rabi and Kharif season. It is mainly grown during the months from March to June .They thrive on warm dry weather for majority part of their growth period and also long day duration for flowering
