They have tendency to loose electron.

They show basic character.

All the elements present in left side are metals.

They are electro positive in nature.

They are malleable and ductile in nature

They are shiny and lustrous.

Ex - Sodium ,potassium ,lithium

Non metals

They have tendency to gain electron

They show acidic character.

All the elements present on right side are non metals .

They are electronegative in nature

They are brittle and break into small pieces.

They are not shiny .they are dull except iodine which is shiny.

Ex - Bromine , chlorine,carbon.
