work will be positive or negative if we apply a force on a object and force has a component in the same direction as the displacement work will be called positive work .
 example of positive work my point of view are following.
1 pushing the glass on the table to the some distance.
2 lifting a block 
3 pulling a box on the floor  to another place.
4 climbing hill 
5 kicking the football

If the force applied to do the work features a component that has the same direction of displacement of the object, the force is said to be doing positive work.

Some examples of positive work are:
