Answer:

A man and woman meet every night in their dreams where they say to one another "Eyes of a blue dog." In this dream, the woman is warming her hands over a candle because the room is cold. The man can see what she is doing even when he is facing the wall. When she undresses, the man thinks her skin looks like copper and she reminds him of a statue. She has devoted her entire life to finding the man. Everyday, she walks the town saying "Eyes of a blue dog" and writing the phrase everywhere, hoping he will recognize her. But the man always forgets the phrase when he wakes up and she cannot remember where she lives. At dawn, the man begins to wake up; he goes for the door which leads into a hallway full of another dream. She says not to open it, but he does. As he leaves, he says he will remember the phrase but she says he is the only man who cannot remember a dream.
