Answer:-
Let the numbers be a - 2d , a - d , a , a + d , a + 2d .
Given:
Sum of the numbers = 25/2
→ a - 2d + a - d + a + a + d + a + 2d = 25/2
→ 5a = 25/2
→ 5 * a = 25/2
→ a = (25/2) * (1/5)
→ a = 5/2
Also,
Ratio of first term to the last term = 2 : 3
→ a - 2d : a + 2d = 2 : 3
Putting the value of a we get,
→ 5/2 - 2d : 5/2 + 2d = 2 : 3
→ (5 - 4d)/2 : (5 + 4d) / 2 = 2 : 3
→ [ (5 - 4d)/2 ] * [ 2/(5 + 4d) ] = 2/3
→ (5 - 4d) / (5 + 4d) = 2/3
On cross multiplication we get,
→ 3 * (5 - 4d) = 2 * (5 + 4d)
→ 15 - 12d = 10 + 8d
→ 15 - 10 = 8d + 12d
→ 5 = 20d
→ 5/20 = d
→ 1/4 = d
Hence,
- a - 2d = 5/2 - 2(1/4) = (5 - 1)/2 = 4/2 = 2
- a - d = 5/2 - 1/4 = (10 - 1)/4 = 9/4.
- a = 5/2
- a + d = 5/2 + 1/4 = (10 + 1)/4 = 11/4
- a + 2d = 5/2 + 2(1/4) = (5 + 1)/2 = 6/2 = 3.
Therefore,
- First term (a) = 5/2
- Common difference (d) = 1/4
- Five numbers are 2 , 9/4 , 5/2 , 11/4 , 3.
