The amount of table salt in the solution is 140 grams

GIVEN

Weight of the solution = 200 grams

Percentage of table salt = 70%

TO FIND

Amount of table salt.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

It is given,

Weight of the solution = 500 grams

Weight % of table solute = 70%

Let the weight of the solute = x grams

We know that the weight% is the ratio of weight of the solute to the weight of the solvent multiplied by 100.

Formula to calculate weight% is as follows;

weight\% =  \frac{mass \: of \: solute}{weight \: of \: solution}  \times 100

Putting the values in the above formula we get;

70 =  \frac{x}{200}  \times 100

Bringing the like terms together.

 \frac{70 \times 200}{100}  = x

x = 140 grams

Hence, The amount of table salt in the solution is 140 grams
