Answer:

Let the park be a rectangle ABCD under a bigger rectangle EFGH . AB=11m, AC = 7m.

The width between the two rectangles is 2m ( it is the path ).

So, dimensions of rectangle EFGH are

EF = 11m and FG = 15m

area of path = area of rectangle EFGH- area of rectangle ABCD

= (EF×FG) - (AB×AC)

= (11×15) metre square - (7×11) metre square

= 88 metre square

therefore the area of path is 88 metre square.

Answer:

Length of rectangular park=125m, breadth of rectangular park=65m and width of the path=3m

Length of rectangular park with path=125+3+3=131m

Breadth of rectangular park with path=65+3+3=71m

∴ Area of path = Area of park with path−Area of park without path

=(AB×AD)−(EF×EH)

=(131×71)−(125×65)

=9301−8125

=1,176m

2

Thus, area of path around the park is 1,176m
