LET US ASSUME

ABCD IS A SQUARE

AC IS THE DIAGONAL

(a) SIDE OF THE SQUARE

NOW IN Δ ABC

BY PYTHAGORAS THEOREM

AC^2 = AB^2 + BC^2

(162)^2 = a^2 + a^2

512 = 2a^2

a^2 = 512/2

a = 256

a = 16 cm

THE SIDE OF THE SQUARE IS 16CM
