2x+5=17

(k, 3)i.e.,x=k,y=3

2k+5=17

2k =17-5

2k = 12

k=12/2

k=6

If y = 3 then x = (17 - 15)/2 = 1. Therefore the value of X which is equal to k is 1. k=x because k is at the position of x coordinate( 3 is at the position of y coordinate ).
