Answers :-
- Hence, ortho nitrophenol is a stronger acid . On the other hand methoxy group is an electron releasing group . Thus it increases the electron density in the O-H bond and hence , the proton cannot be given out easily . So ortho nitrophenol is more acidic .
- O- , P- nitrophenol are more acidic than phenol because of fact that NO2 is best electron in drawing group .
- p-nitrophenol is more acidic than o-nitrophenol because intermolecular H bond makes o-isomer is weaker than p-isomer . This increases the acidity of o-isomer .
- Phenol is more acidic than methanol because phenoxide ion after loss of proton is more stable than methoxide ion after the loss of proton .
