a)Red blood cells do not have nuclei, allowing for more room for hemoglobin. The shape of red blood cells is a unique biconcave shape (round with a flat, indented center). Their lack of nuclei makes them so flexible that they can pass through extremely small blood vessels.

b)Xylem is one of the two types of transport tissue in vascular plants, phloem being the other. The basic function of xylem is to transport water from roots to stems and leaves, but it also transports nutrients.

c)The eggs are also quite large, relative to the size of the bird, which allows the chick to become quite fully developed. That way, it can move and feed on its own after hatching, when its parents will not be around. In addition, the eggs have a high yolk content.

d)Nerve cells are long and have branches because they need more surface area to pass the signals to cell by cell. Their branches structure helps them to receive and transfer messages, thereby helping to control and coordinate the working of different parts of the body.
