The accleration of a freely falling body is uniform because the value of small g(9.8m/s) which is equal to the acceleration induced upon the body is same throughout since there is no other push or pull i.e. force acting on the body, other than that applied by the earth.Hence when it falls freely with no other force acting its way(we here ignore air resistance as well as the change of g with height) the accleration is uniform because it's only the earth which is causing it and no other body.
