Physical change

  1. Breaking of a glass tumbler : When a glass tumbler breaks it forms many pieces each broken piece of the glass tumbler is still glass. No new substance is formed. So, the breaking of a glass tumbler is a physical change.
  2. Glowing of an electric bulb : When an electric bulb is switched on and electric current passes through the filament of the bulb as a result the filament glows to give light when the bulb is which of the filament returns to its normal condition and the world stops growing. So, no new substance is formed inside the bulb during this process so the glowing of an electric bulb is a physical change.

Chemical change

  1. Cooking of food : During, cooking it is required to cook raw grains and vegetables the composition of the raw materials changes due to heat and new substance is formed. It is also not possible to get the raw vegetables from the cook food the change is permanent and irreversible therefore the cooking of food is a chemical change.
  2. Respiration : Oxygen is necessary for respiration in respiration living organism take in oxygen that reacts with food to give carbon dioxide vapour and energy. New substances are formed. Therefore, respiration is a chemical change.
