The perpetrators of the theory that Vijaya bow makes the warrior invincible and Karna was using it for the first time base the logic on Karna’s words and that Karna + Vijaya bow is not mentioned earlier. But then Mahabharata does not mention this fact that Vijaya bow makes the wielder invincible - if you have know the shlokas please refer them to me. Then again, Mahabharata does not mention bows of many great warriors other than Arjuna. So that to me is no evidence.
Karna was mangled many times during the war. He was using Vijaya bow all the time as per my logic. Even if was using Vijaya bow on the 17th day only, he was badly injured during the 17th day also .
