The excerpt has been taken from the poem "The White Man's Burden" written by Rudyard Kipling.
The poem depicts the attitude of the native people due to the manifestation of racism and imperialism. The native people, who were also called as the captive people had to suffer a lot under the name of racism. However, when they were brought to light by a few white people, their attitude towards them was sullen, ungrateful and indignant. However, the attitude was understandable because they suffered under the colonial and imperialistic rule of the invaders.
